About Me
I spent a long time thinking, if I want a beautiful home, I have to shell out the cash. I bought my first home in my mid-twenties. It was a 926 sq ft condo in Bloomington, Minnesota. And after putting about 12k into it, I put almost 30k in my pocket at closing.
The journey I took in that condo was stressful. Being uneducated in most of the happenings of my first home - flooring, tiling, painting (yeah, I said it), repairs, even decorating - left me overwhelmed most of the time. I wasn’t confident in my ability to make design decisions, and I got frustrated every time something didn’t turn how I’d imagined. I got rid of half of my things and moved into an apartment Uptown, free from home-ownership responsibilities.
It was nearly two years before I got the itch again. But when I was ready, I jumped back into the deep end with my next home. I started taking advantage of the power that making just a few changes to your space can do for your return. And slowly learned that a lot of the things I had hired people to do in that condo, I should have at least tried to do myself.
I’m now in my third home, in a completely different region, learning as I go, and capturing as much of it as possible here. I hope that this becomes a space that inspires, the way so many people I follow inspire me. Even if that inspiration drives you just to pick up a paintbrush, or change a light fixture. My goal is simply to leave a space better than I found it, and get as much enjoyment out of them in the meantime.
